What Veterinarians Have To Say About Potty Park™
(As veterinarians in Ontario, Canada do not have the ability to publicly endorse a product due to stringent regulatory conditions surrounding their veterinary licenses, we are at this time restricted to “off the record” comments from anonymous veterinarians).
“Dogs are forced to void based on their owner’s schedules. Dog owners often restrict water to prevent them needing to urinate during the day, and although dehydration is a potential outcome, there would be little risk to a healthy dog. There may be huge risk to a dog with compromised renal function, or any other diseased state that affects water balance and therefore alters drinking and urination behaviors.”
“We can't always be there to allow our dogs to go outside due to today's busy schedules. It is very nice to have peace of mind that while we are out the dogs are neither suffering to hold their urine nor are they messing in the house.”
“A dogs failure to void regularly can lead to bladder infections and thereby possible to promote bladder stones.”
“Potty Park™ has really impressed me - there are absolutely no odors associated with it. Other products (pee pads) are unsightly, smell and are often stepped on by people visiting the house (speaking from experience last weekend when my son stepped on my aunt’s dog's pee pad).”
“Potty Park™ is definitely a benefit for the senior dog with medical issues leading to increased drinking and urination. As for pups - the big advantage I see is that if they train quickly to use the Potty Park™, there is no need to worry about going out with them all the time since they would always have access to the soiling area.”
“Generally I really like the concept and design. I see Potty Park™ being a great value for my dog and family. As far as teaching an already house trained dog to use, we have found that confining her to a small area (bathroom or penned area) with bedding, the Potty Park™ and a bowl of water, they will take to using the Potty Park™ very well. Although it did strike me as pricey at first, the annual cost of pee pads would easily exceed the onetime cost of a Potty Park™ .”
Training for puppies and dogs of less than 1 year
You won’t have a problem getting your puppy to use the Potty Park™! We have found most puppies are trained and using it correctly within their first couple weeks of having a Potty Park™.
Place the Potty Park™ where you would like your puppy to toilet. We recommend by the back door for homeowners or the balcony door for condominium and apartment residents. This way you can easily move your Potty Park™ outside to teach your puppy to use it both indoors and out. Then add a small amount of water to the reservoir to dilute daily amounts of urine.
If you are training your puppy in a sectioned of area or crate, be sure to place the Potty Park™ within easy access for your puppy.
Now that you have chosen a location for your Potty Park™, it’s time to spray the artificial grass surface with the pheromone training spray provided with your Potty Park™. This will help attract your puppy to the Potty Park™ for toileting. Make sure not to spray the grass surface in the presence of your puppy as this may frighten or confuse them.
The best way to introduce your puppy to the Potty Park™ is to carry or lead them over to it and place them on it when they first wake up or after meals. Use a command phrase such as “go potty” or “go pee to” train your dog to go on command. Repeat this command until your puppy has successfully toileted on the Potty Park™, then praise them abundantly. If you are training your puppy with treats, this is the time to give them one.
Once your puppy begins using the Potty Park™ on their own, remember to praise them abundantly every time you witness them using it.
If you see your dog(s) going elsewhere than the Potty Park™, simply tell them NO and move them to the Potty Park™.
Make sure not to feed your dog treats on the Potty Park™ and don’t encourage them to bring toys on the Potty Park™ as this may deter them from using it correctly.
Do not allow or encourage your dog to play or sleep on the Potty Park™ as this will deter them from correctly using the Potty Park™.
As you and your dog(s) begin using the Potty Park™, remember to be encouraging and supportive when your dog uses the Potty Park™ correctly. Treats or exaggerated praise are a great way to reward and encourage your dog(s) to continue using the Potty Park™. Remember your dog wants to please you; let them know that using the Potty Park™ pleases you and they will continue to do so out of habit.
* Please note that most dogs typically take 1 to 4 weeks to fully adjust to the Potty Park™.
** Your Potty Park Dog Grass™ was just recently manufactured and we've done our best to remove any excess shedding of the grass fibers. You may encounter some additional shedding as you open your new Potty Park™. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

If your dog has been trained to use pee pads, the transition will be very easy for you and your dog. Simply place a pee pad on top of the Potty Park™ and encourage your dog to go on the pee pad/Potty Park™ at toileting times. After a week, your dog should be comfortable using the Potty Park™ without the pee pad. If your dog is confused and does not use the pee pad on top of the Potty Park™, simply remove the pee pad and train without it.
If your dog doesn’t currently use pee pads or hasn’t been trained to toilet indoors, you will need to overcome your dogs natural instincts to hold it in until it can go outside.
The best way to introduce your dog to the Potty Park™ is to carry or lead them over to it and place them on it. Let them take a look, sniff it and become comfortable around it. Don’t forget this is a big change for a dog, so stay positive and happy. It is important not to stress your dog.
